Rivers State Governor, Nwesom Wike, Monday, joined his Abia State Counterpart, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to commission the First Ever Osisioma Flyover constructed by the present adminstration in Abia.
Wike described governor Ikpeazu as a dependable ally and expressed excitement at the laudable projects of Ikpeazu in the State, adding that he feel proud to associate himself with the governor whom he said has shown capacity.
Also commissioned by the River state Governor was the Aba Owerri Road, Aba, constructed and completed by the Ikpeazu led government.
Speaking while commissioning the project, Governor Wike lauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for embarking on developmental projects across the state despite the lean resources accruable to Abia , saying that he has changed the narratives in infrastructural development.
He said: “I commend you for executing legacy projects, this is a testament of your commitment to boosting socioeconomic development in Abia.
“It doesn’t matter how many months are left before your tenure will elapse,i want to urge you to continue to work for the people of Abia till your last day in office”.
Governor Wike noted that Governor Ikpeazu has through many landmark projects justified his mandate pointing out that his achievements in Abia will pave the way for all PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections to emerge victorious in all positions as he admonished the PDP Guber Candidate Prof Uche Ikonne to emulate Ikpeazu in order to do more when he eventually emerges governor of Abia State.
He advised Governor Ikpeazu not to be distracted by the antics of enemies of good governance, but focus on his developmental agenda for the state.
Speaking earlier, Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu says his desire to erect the Osisioma Ngwa Flyover was to facilitate ease of movement of personnel and goods in and out of Aba as the commercial nerve center of the State.
Ikpeazu added that the essence of governance is to solve problems as he noted that God made the project a reality.
The governor says the contribution of the interchange to the economy of Aba are the trade and Commerce in the State as he maintained that traders in Ariariaria ,Ahia Ohuru ,Eziukwu and other markets will be the ultimate beneficiaries of the project .
He further described the Commissioning as historic and a special day in Abia State as the Commissioning coincided with the 31 year Anniversary of the State , while he expressed hope that the Flyover will begot other flyovers in Abia in due time.
The occasion witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries like the Deputy Governor Rt.Sir Ude Okochukwu, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa,PDP governorship candidate Prof Uche Ikonne ,other PDP candidates in Abia and Rivers State.
