Spartak dismiss Moses exit rumours

Russian giants, Spartak Moscow, have dismissed speculations linking Nigerian Victor Moses away from the Russian Cup winners in the summer transfer window.

Moses has been in fine form for Spartak since the beginning of the 2022/23 season.

The 31-year-old has bagged two goals in three matches enjoying his new role with the Russian club under new manager, Guille Abascal, and has helped Spartak pick up seven points from the opening three games.

The former Chelsea player has been linked with a move away from Russia and with the new FIFA rule allowing Russian-based foreign footballers to suspend their contracts for one season; speculations continue to grow that the Nigerian could be on his way out of the club.

In an interview with Championat, a Russian publication, the club’s press chief Dmitry Zelenov brushes off claims that Moses is set for an exit from the club.

“You are operating on rumours. We saw what shape Moses got, and how great he plays. For today’s match, we have released a program with an interview with Guillermo Abascal: there he talked a lot about Moses,” Zelenov told Championat.

“We now want to talk about Moses in a football way. Moses is one of the best, if not the best, in his position in the RPL.

“We are glad that there is such a player in Spartak. How long will he play for Spartak? I have talked about this many times and I will say it again: the current situation, the situation does not give us a guarantee for any player, except for the Russians.”
