The Interpol Consultant and Security Expert Sir Chikwe Udensi has called for checks and balances in the activities of Judges in various Courts of the Country as he also harped on the need to repair the wroughts of judicial system in terms of competence and standard .
While Speaking on a Radio interview on Wednesday,he added that the level of deliberate delays and adjournment without notice in some cases and nonchalant attitude of the Court registrars who keep Litigants waiting for no reason calls for serious attention in the sector which according to him requires improvement.
Chikwe who noted with dismay as he visits the Supreme Court says it was an eye opener to the rots currently experienced in the judicial system as non of the Judges came to work on time, following his appearance for the Abia State Chapter of the All Progressive Grand Alliance gubernatorial elections case instituted by Guber Aspirant and Senior Advocate Of Nigeria,Etigwe Uwa at the Court in Abuja as they were kept for several hours without any Court attendant.
The Security expert added that the unneccesary delays in some of the court cases or trials that are time bound have suffered set back as a result of the lackluster administration of judgement by the Judges in the country.
He further disclosed that the Supreme Court environment does not depict where one would come and obtain justice as government also shares in the blame for not providing the conducive environment for judicial activities.
“The Supreme Court environment generally does not depicts where one would come and obtain justice.”
“This frustration is not just only coming from the judges or the Lawyers themselves,it is also coming from the government whose jobs it is to provide a conducive environment for accreditation of those processes .
The rots in the system he maintained deserves urgent attention by those who have capacity to do so , while he advocate for a speedy process in dispensing judgement like it’s done in the Courts in America and some parts of the World where administration of justice is held in high esteem and adjuged very organized .
“The rots in the system deserves urgent attention by those who has capacity .”
He added that the Lawyers are the major problems in the court as their attitudes creates some form of dysfunctionality in the system, describing it as a wrong approach.
Udensi posited that there must be a serious society where things would be done rightly so as to put the Judicial system in the proper order and to restore the intergrity and images of the profession which he says is in totally disarray.
He expressed worries over the way Litigants in Courts across the country are being treated with some of the Magistrate Court Judges not been punctual to Court duties,Court registrars lacking courtesy, disorganized processes in the Court and unventilated environment.
These most disturbing issues according to him requires urgent attention for change in the system.
“The Magistrates Courts are noting to write home about all ,in fact if you look at the problems we have there, the problems come from the judges, the Lawyers ,the government that ought to make provisions and the Litigants.”
