The Dr. Bar. Okwun Ojah Ohfia Unity Football Cup Tournament lived up to the billing as the Ebem United won the Okagwe team 4-1 on penalties to lift the trophy.
Dr.Bar Okwun Ojah who was live at the Ofali Agwu mini Stadium to watch the match, expressed excitement at the skillful display of talents and brilliance from those players.
He also spoke with newsstarlet about his accomplishments in life but more specifically on how humanitarian projects appeals to him.
He added that his programmes are people oriented as he intends to do more as it’s evident that he has been doing a lot but notably wanted to encourage Younger people to identify their talents.
While Sharing his thoughts with newsstarlet,Okwun Ojah admitted that he was passionate about giving back to the society, having grown and experienced difficulties in his village Amaekpu Ohafia.
“I grew up in this village so as a kid I realized there were lots of things we never had ,I struggled as a kid and knew that if I have a way I’ll have to give back to the public.”
“When I was opportune to go overseas and begin to practice medicine there although my medical training was right here in Nigeria my post graduate qualifications are somewhere in overseas and I considered myself very lucky.”
“I was blessed not because of my brilliancy or beauty of my face or my height.”
“I knew I have to give back to God ,I am very religious .We don’t talk much about God where we live but here we talk about God.”
“I knew I have to give something back to humanity and being a Doctor I’m doing a lot for humanity but that is in Australia so I’m doing quite a lot there but over here people don’t have anything.”
“I’m not practicing in Nigeria .
“I was brought up in Nigeria ,I grew up in Nigeria and that is why I’ve decided to go back to my local area and do something for them.”
While reacting to the issues of some Nigerian Medical Doctors moving abroad , he added that the situation of the medical doctors I Nigeria moving to Overseas in search of greener pastures is sad but maintained that there’s no need to be in the country where you’re not encouraged to practice your profession.
Okwun Ojah recalled playing football in Ohafia during his school days as it was the football sports that captured his interest but added that he has to drop soccer because of time.
He says he had passion into some many things and only wanted to encourage the Youths of his locality through soccer .
According to him the essence of the Dr.Bar.Ohafia Unity Football Cup Tournament is to harness the talents in the youths.
“If you watch my philanthropic activities closey, you’ll see that we’re reaching out to everybody ,soccer is just one of the activities we’ve engaged in bearing in mind that the money that I’m using is my own personal money.”
“There’s no money from anybody no donation from the Nigerian or Australian government .”
“I chose the soccer before this match today few years ago I started this tournament from my community Amaekpu and later decides to involve the entire Ohafia.”
He further said that he goes into projects that are specifically people oriented, adding that he doesn’t intend to go into politics while advising Nigerian politicians to make a better change that will give the youths survival future to excel .
He uses the occasion of Christmas to Call for peace and a better Nigeria.
Having ventured into many humanitarian projects, the overseas based Medical Doctor said he conceived the ideas of humanity having experienced difficulties in his early stages in life growing up in the village as he thought it wise to give back to the public.
Dr.Bar Okwun Ojah has done a lot of community projects such as Road construction, building projects, boreholes to communities as well as extending to Army barracks , building Police Station, donation of transformers to some communities and more.
