Free and democratic society confers on one his/her inalienable right to hold and express opinions borne out of personal conviction.
It is on this light, that the submissions of a renowned Ohuhu born political heavyweight cum philanthropist, High Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia that the state will not run into deficit should the performing Governor, Dr. Alex Otti decide to move back to his natural party, APC.
To him,Abia state will gain much should the governor launch Abia state into the mainstream of national politics by joining APC.
Expectedly, there was the usual backlash from sworn political neophytes who have bluntly refused to see dynamism in modern political practices.
In the contemporary parlance, political practices are being driven by two outstanding concepts: dynamism and vested interests.
The major preoccupation of political power is to capture power to pursue vested interests and such scenario could only materialize in a dynamic setting.
Ab initio, the concept of mainstream politicking has always been an appealing tack to serious power holders,as no one wants to be relegated in the background.
However, even in the global political trajectory, countries are regularly shifting their allegiances to ‘belong’ to the mainstream of a new, evolving order mainly to pursue and safeguard their vested interests.
Basically,a country like Russia has been in the forefront of campaigning for multipolar world order as against the unipolar order being orchestrated by US.
And expectedly,many countries are presently switching their allegiance to Russia’s overtures just to protect their vested interests.
To them stagnating under the unbearable influence of US unipolar order would no longer guarantee their interests and aspirations, hence the decision to shift where they deemed their interests shall be respected and safeguarded.
Relatedly, a renowned author, Antonio Porchia once exclaimed, “If you don’t raise your eyes,you’ll think that you’re at the highest point”
Governor Alex Otti remains a competent, proactive politician whose antecedents places him above his peers in taking balanced decisions for his people.
No doubt, so far he has been mulling on the best for Ndi Abia and as a groomed apostle of dynamism,his profound interest in developing Abia state is sacrosanct and uppermost in his mind.
To be honest and modest, if moving back to his former party as being speculated can return Ndi Abia to the mainstream of national politics and the attendant prosperity, so be it.
It will be sheer fatuousness and lack of grasp of contemporary dynamic politics for emergency arm chair critics to oppose the move.
Ndi Abia for the moment are in need of intrinsic and quality leadership that will make life meaningful and bearable, partisan consideration is an infinitesimal factor for now.After all, APC was his former party and again,the member representing Umuahia North State Constituency in the House is a member of the party, Ndi Ohuhu would really be the ultimate winners at the long run.
Senator Dave Umahi, the immediate past governor of Ebonyi State and the present Minister of Works comes readily in mind as our case study.
Initially, when he mooted the idea of joining APC from PDP, not a few assailed, leered and mocked at him.
Most of his close political associates looked at him at his face and upbraided him that if makes such move that he will be finished politically.
He took his decision with stoic defiance and calmness, and subsequently he moved and was able leave a development legacy that was yet to be rivalled in the South East till date, albeit with a generous support from the APC government at the centre.
Not done yet, he successfully finished the stipulated two time tenure and proceeded to Abuja to become the Minister of the plum Works ministry.
This is the glaring reward of switching into mainstream politics.
High Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia has always been in the lookout for what will benefit his people and should be hailed to have courageously bared his mind on what Ndi Abia stood to gain should the amiable governor decides to join a party he helped to nurture in the State.
This is a decision that will be devoid of superciliousness or selfishness but solicitously nurtured for the wellbeing of Ndi Abia.
