Ochiagha Oparaukwu Ibeku, Prince Benjamin Benedict Apugo has chastised the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House Of Representatives,Rt.Hon.Benjamin Kalu for not showing true representation but parades himself as the nation’s number Six citizen.
Apugo who was speaking recently to newsstalet on the trending Video where the Deputy Speaker was seen, making bold of the All Progressives Congress readiness to take over Abia State governor position in 2027 added that what should be of concern to Ben Kalu and other Abia Federal Law-makers right now is the development of Abia State and ensuring every Federal projects are completed for the betterment of the State not wasting time in National Assembly for answering just names.
He described Kalu as empty number Six who has shown noting inspite occupying such position in the Country.
He maintained that the Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu has nothing to show as the number Six citizen in terms of quality projects at his Bende Federal Constituency,let alone for the entire South East Region.
Apugo noted that the South East Development Commission that Benjamin Kalu boasts with was long proposed by the previous Law-makers before him.
“Even the One of Bende so called Deputy as far as I’m concerned he’s empty , empty number Six because we have seen noting from him,he can’t even move to his home because of bad Road so what is he saying?.
“Those people that we voted for are people that should tell the Federal Government what is the need of our people but in their own case they’re interested in the Salaries they get and their Constituency allowances”.
Ochiagha who is also the member,APC National Board of Trustees and APC National Caucus also called on the Abia Federal Law-makers to show capacity by bringing the attention of the Federal Government to the numerous challenges in their various Constituencies .
He further expressed optimism that governor Alex Otti will construct Bende road and build a new stadium in order to have a new face of Umuahia the State, Capital .
He want APC to ensure that the International Airport allocated in Abia is built,adding that Umuahia was known as the Number One station in Nigerian Railway because of the Agricultural produce that is transported across the country.
He called on Federal Government to fix the railway station in Umuahia because of the purposes it was serving, saying it was unfair that rail line now stops at Aba, while he called on the governor to press on the Federal Government to fix the railway in Umuahia.
“I wonder why Railway should stop at Aba and wouldnt come to Umuahia ,yes I know that they took the Slipper but it is not the duty of Umuahia people to guide the rail line, it is the duty of the Railway to guide the rail line”.
“The governor should not waste time to press on the Federal Government which is the APC to fix the rail lines”.
Apugo also expressed excitement that an Umuahia Son is the permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation.
He also dispelled assertions about Ibeku people celebrating New Yam Festival without harvesting Yam, adding that Ibeku are more Famers than any other parts of Ikwuano/Umuahia.
Apugo said that he inherited 45 percent of the Yam in his Farm today from his parents when they were alive, adding that he has a Farmland where he cultivates Yam and other Agricultural produce in Alulu to show exemplary as a Custodian of Ibeku Culture.
Reacting to the controversy experienced in the 2024 New Yam Festival were the Youths were set to have gone contrary to the date fixed for the New Yam Festival,Apugo stressed the need for Abia government to review the Ezeship stool given to some Traditional Rulers in the State as some of them does not understand the tradition.
Apugo stated this after performing the traditional rites of the Ibeku New Yam Festival at Egwu Ibeku,at Isieke where he noted that some Traditional Rulers went to fix the date of the New Yam Festival contrary to the formal way it’s done at the Fouth Eke market day in the month of August.
He said that the Cultural Exercise of the Ibeku New Yam Festival is an inheritance and not a Chieftaincy title.
He therefore urged the Youths and people of the Community not to allow themselves to be deceived by those who feign ignorance of the laid down procedure of Ibeku New Yam Festival.
