Abia Government To Build Coordinated Wholesale Centre For Medicine Dealers

The Abia State government has reaffirmed it’s commitment to improve the lives of citizens through sustainable development initiatives and impactful people-oriented programs.

At a recent engagement between Aba medicine Dealers and KCHAqua Consortium, a construction, infrastructure and property development firm, which paved the way for the realisation of the Coordinated Wholesale Centre (CWC) project, the Abia State Government stated that it remains committed to the health needs of the citizenry.

Speaking during the engagement, the Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Trade, Commerce and Industry, Chief Nwaka Inem, reiterated that the Governor Alex Otti led government has continued to prioritize the health needs of Ndi Abia, stressing that he will not relent.

He used the medium to introduce KCHAqua Consortium, adding that it is the company granted approval-in-principle (AiP) to execute the CWC project, while cautioning Medicine Dealers against impostors posing for the project.

Contributing, the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Kingsley Nwokocha, advised the Medicine Dealers to sustain the ongoing engagement, assuring them of government support to ensure that every stakeholder is carried along before the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

On his part, the Director of the Public-Private Partnership & Investment Promotion Office, Mr. Uchenna Nnaomah, revealed that before KCHAqua Consortium was granted AiP, it satisfied the rigorous scrutiny set by the government.

He said, “The journey began in September last year, and a number of companies applied for the project, but some could not make it to the finish line. The PPP office scrutinized them diligently, and in the end, KCHAqua Consortium satisfied the conditions and was granted approval-in-principle.”

While appreciating the state government for holding the meeting, Chairman of the Advisory Board of KCHAqua Consortium, Chief Victor Amuta, assured stakeholders of the consortium’s commitment to delivering a world-class CWC facility.

According to him, the management of the company has approved a waiver of the fee for obtaining the expression of interest form for the project.

In his response, the Chairman/Co-ordinator of the Aba Medicine Dealers Stakeholders Association, Chief Elvis Anoruo, expressed appreciation to Governor Alex Otti for providing land for the project and assured the consortium of members’ full support toward its success.

Southeastposts reports that the meeting was aimed at promoting mutual co-operation among stakeholders.

The meeting was attended by state government officials, representatives of KCHAqua Consortium and leaders of the Aba Medicine Dealers Stakeholders Association of Ekumi; Ariaria Zones A, B, and C; Henken Plaza; NAPMED Tenant Road Branch; Eziukwu Road and Ngwa Road.
