
Izo Ahia Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State will take place on the 24th of July 2025.
Ochiagha Oparaukwu Ibeku Prince Benjamin Apugo who was addressing the Newsmen at Egwu Ibeku on the forthcoming Festival says the Izo Ahia Ibeku has stayed for over 3000 years before the arrival of the British Colonial Masters .

He says the Izo Ahia Ibeku has a very strong Cultural significance as it ushers in the New Yam Festival.
He also stressed the need for people of all races to go and trace their roots as Tradition is something that is used in fighting Evils in the Society.
He added that neglect of Tradition has brought a lot of ills in the various parts of the communities today which if the Cultural and Traditions are taking seriously would be addressed.

He said that Izo Ahia will be done before the Ibeku New Yam Festival every Five Years in Ibeku land to make way for progress and development .
He expressed joy that the Federal Ministry of Tourism has Identified Egwu Ibeku as One of the Tourism Sites in Nigeria because of it’s historical and cultural heritage.

Apugo also noted that Izo Ahia Ibeku which will be celebrated on Thursday 24th July 2025 was lastly done 52 years ago in 1972.
