Member Representing Umunneochi State Constituency in Abia State House of Assembly,Honourable Mathias Ume has reeled out his Two years Scorecard at the 8th Abia State House of Assembly.
While interacting with newsmen in his Constituency office,Hon.Mathias recalled kicking off a motion at the first seaten as a Law-maker and moving a motion for the intervention of the State government over insecurity in Umunneochi which gave room to Operation Crush Security Outfit in the State.
He expressed excitement that relative peace has been enjoined in Umunneochi ever since.
He added that he sponsored a Security Bill which will aid in establishing a Security Law in Abia State ,adding that it was recently discovered through his Bill that what seems to be Homeland security in the State has no Legal backing Constitutionally.
Homeland security Bill he said was part of the 18 bills accented to by the Governor of Abia State Dr.Alex Otti.
He further maintained that he passed a Bill for all the Umunneochi Roads connecting the neighbouring South East States to receive attention of the government, saying that Umunneochi is the only Local Government Area in Abia State that shares boundaries with Five South Eastern States in Nigeria .
The Law-maker added that the Hundred percent attendance he maintained in the State Assembly has enabled him pay rapt attention to the problems of his Constituents.
Amongst the Bills on Hon. Mathias Ume are :Senior Citizens Centre Bill , a Bill that will enable a Man go for 21 days leave close to the delivery date of his Wife.
Honourable Mathias maintained that he’s doing a lot outside his duty as a Law-maker as his top most priority has been to undertake the education of some select members of his Constituency by registering them in West African Examination Council with his personal income this programme according to him started since 2023.
He also established what is called Honourable Nwachi Bursary allocation.
The Chairman of the Abia State House Assembly Committee on Budget and Planning said he incorporated in the budget with his position,the Mbala ,Umuagu Ngodo ring Road in Umunneochi and rehabilitation and Fencing of the Cattle Market in order to protect the market from the activities of the Herdsmen.
He anticipates increase and more dividends of Democracy for his Constituents.as he marks Two years of his Tenure at the State Assembly
