The member of the All Progressives Congress Board of Trustees and National Caucus,Ochiagha Oparaukwu Ibeku ,Prince Benjamin Benedict Apugo has stressed the need for quality representation by Abia Lawmakers in the National Assembly.
Apugo was speaking at his residence when he received on courtesy call a delegation of APC stalwarts led by the Deputy Speaker RT.Hon.Benjamin Kalu who came to pay Homage to him.
Ochiagha while speaking on Saturday 7th of June 2025 ,called on Benjamin Kalu to ensure he writes his name on Gold by using his current position as Deputy Speaker to attract more dividends of Democracy,adding that Bende Road should be constructed alongside other important Projects in order to give Abia a new face and in turn boost his profile.
Apugo also recalled his role in the establishment of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture , Umudike,adding that the notable Federal Government establishment in the State remains the institution and Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.
He added that he remains the APC member inspite supporting the emergence of Alex Otti as the Governor of Abia State.
He described as unfortunate that Abia, a State which produced the Premier of the Eastern Nigeria in the Person of Late.Dr.Michael Okpara and the First Military Head of State in Nigeria late.Aguiyi Ironsi but has nothing to show for in terms of development and Federal Government’s presence.
Speaking earlier, the Deputy Speaker Federal House Of Representatives , RT.Hon.eulogized Prince Benjamin Benedict Apugo for sustaining his principles and qualities which are worthy of emulation by the Young people.
He described the Elder statesman as an institution and a distinguished personality who has remained unchanged with his admirable principles in life.
He added that Apugo has shown the virtues of a true leader and One worthy of emulation,while he further said that Apugo is an achiever who has a sustained legacy in the Country with the emergence of Abian as the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House Of Representatives while as member of the APC National Caucus.
This he maintained will remain indelible in history.
He says the visit to Apugo’s residence is to create a robust relationship that’ll give him access for advice and counseling from the Elder statesman whenever he the need arises.
The Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu led delegation to Apugo’s residence had the company of Uguwumba ,Uche Nwosu,the former Chief of Staff to Rochas Okorocha Former Governor of Imo State,Former Abia Speakers , Stanley Ohajuruka,Martins Azubuike, Emmanuel Trump Eke, Chief Daniel Akwari, Cosmos Ndukwe,Chief Ikenna Ariwodo, Chief Emma Onwuchekwa,Dr Emma Ndukwe,Martins Mbaka, Hon.Orni Udeagha,Dame Blessing Nwagba,Hon.Mike Ukoha,Chief Okezie Using,Hon Chibuzor Okogbuo,Hon.Dike Charles amongst others.
