Grassroots Football Development,My Dream For Abia Warriors -John Obuh

The Chairman of Abia Warriors,John Obuh, has stressed the need for grassroots football development for the Club.

Obuh who just assumed office as the chairman of Abia Warriors said that he will create a platform where the Junior players will move to the Senior level in order to keep the Club running without lacking players when the need arises.


While interacting with Journalists at the Club Secretariat,the Chairman maintained that his wealth of knowledge as a player and Coach will bring the desired success .
“With my wealth of knowledge coming from a player to a Coach and to where I am this is another phase “.


“And I know quite well that being another phase,the success that i’ve been able to have in the past phases,by the special grace of God the success will also follow this time around”.


“You know quite well that it is always very difficult to start a new thing but I know that am equal to the task with the people I have behind me that is why I have to make my recruitments in some of my staff change some of their positions to be able to be effective.


He said that Emeka Ifejiagwa an ex-International was also drafted to be part of his set up as Sporting Director including a goalkeeper trainer who will also be an ex-International.


These he said we’re done in the management of his team pending when the governor will appoint the new board members.


He thanked the governor Dr Alex Otti for making his appointments based on people’s specialty.


Abia Warriors team are currently in Camp in Uyo,the Akwa Ibom capital for their preseason tour.


John Obuh added that part of his plans are to get younger players for grassroots football development as well as prepare the female teams in line with the order from the Nigeria Football Federation for all teams to have same and expressed confidence that a younger team would be built.


He stressed the need for a replacement for the outgoing players from Senior team to Junior team so as to enable the Club properly equip the players for cadet teams.
On the state of the Umuahia township stadium he said plans are underway to fix it while making sure that the immediate environment is optimally fixed.
He believe that Improving a cordial relationship between the Enyimba and Abia Warriors team will enable them access to the stadium when the needs arise.


The Chairman added that Strong marketing department is a major challenger confronting the team, while stressing that he plans to ensure its operational.

He added that his efforts to build a good brand for the Club is to sanitize the mind of spectators and rebranding of the team to regain the confidence of the people with maximal support.


He further promised to improve the welfare of players, by increasing their match bonuses- increase for them especially for away wins according to him will guide against playing draws and to boost their confidence.
