The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives,Rt.Hon.Benjamin Kalu has lend his voice to a motion calling for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Ben Kalu on the floor of the House on Thursday seeks the amendment to the motion moved by Member Representing,Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency ,Hon.Ginger Onwusibe as he suggested a political and diplomatic solution.
He added that it’ll be better to seek for an amicable way of releasing the IPOB leader , saying that other political and diplomatic intervention of Mr President,Bola Ahmed Tinubu will bring a lasting peace to the South East region.
The Deputy Speaker further added that those from the South East feels the impact of the insecurity bedeviling the area as the political and diplomatic solution will restore a healthy security situation once the approach is followed.
“I think what the intention of Hon.Ginger Onwusibe was is to find an amicable way of resolving the issue with regards to Nnamdi Kanu and maybe urge Mr President to use other diplomatic or political approach, granted that this is in before the Court to find a lasting solution”.
“Because some of us who are from the South East,we know where the shoe is pinching us and we know what we can take out of it and we’ll have a healthy security situation”he said.
“So I urge that the amendment should be to urge Mr President to use political and diplomatic intervention, you know, asking for his mercy to release Nnamdi Kanu to enable that zone find a lasting peace”.
“Thank you Mr Speaker for giving me this opportunity”.
