The All Progressives Congress Candidate for Ikwuano /Umuahia Federal Constituency,Obilo Ogbonna has promised to create a skill based employment which will equip the individuals to get the necessary entreprenural imputs for the development of the area if elected into the House of Representatives in 2023.
Obilo who was interacting with Newsmen at his Umuawa Alaocha resident spoke about the stagnation and underdevelopment of the Constituency, while expressing hope that quality representation would be key for dividends of democracy if the people votes wisely during the upcoming election.
Abia State according to him has no capacity to create new jobs because of incompetent leadership,as he cited examples of non payment of salaries to workers and infrastructural decay bordering on non performance and mediocrity in governance by those who lacks the insight to lead.
He believes that non payment of salaries affects the corporate culture of attitude to work by people ,hence his quest to intervene in most critical areas as he maintained that his wealth of experience and enlightenment ,coupled with exposure will be beneficial to the growth of the Constituency if elected.
He however noted that previous House of Representatives Members from the Constituency never thought of moving for the division of the Constituency baring in mind that Ikwuano /Umuahia is the biggest Federal Constituency in Abia State.
While he wondered why Bende Federal Constituency is only one Local Government whereas Ikwuano/Umuahia comprises Three Areas namely: Ikwuano,Umuahia north and South , he noted that that has made it difficult to attract equitable projects that will serve the People’s entire needs.
Mr Obilo believes his entrepreural and business background alongside vast knowledge in environmental projects and other experiences he had gannered over the years have placed him better prepared and ahead of other contestants for the great task of the Ikwuano /Umuahia Federal Constituency.
He urged the people not to afford another risk of voting in somebody with lackluster and myopic ideas as such will impede the growth of the area and in turn give rooms to dilapidations and poverty which he says have kept the Constituency backwards.
The APC candidate says he’s coming with other basic ideas in order to profering solutions to some of the challenges like unemployment and education in terms of competence and standard .
He said that it’s good to work for posterity’s sake ,stressing that it’s important to have a holistic view of the area before piloting it’s affairs while he assures he could turn around the fortunes of the Constituency in terms of revenue generation,waste management and safe guarding the health of the citizenry.
He further stressed the need for people to look at the long term and sustainable developmental plan as he assures of him commitment to represent them.
