Professionalism Key To Proficient Reportage,Ikpeazu Tasks Online Media Practitioners

Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has called on online media practitioners to be more professional in the discharge of their duties as the present situation in the Country requires they contribute to it’s peaceful coexistence.

Ikpeazu who disclosed this during a courtesy call by Abia online media practitioners association led by the chairman chief Paddy Anyatonwu at the Governor’s lodge Aba, urged Online Media Practitioners to be mindful about what they say or write about the state, appealing that objectivity is key to projecting the State .

He maintained that professionalism is key to proficient reportage, saying that the survival of Nigeria depends on leadership and the media as the media holds the vital tools that can make or mare the Country.

While describing them as perception managers, the governor urged the online media practitioners to focus on the environment and promote good virtues for development in the State.

He believes that the essence of leadership is to solve problems, adding that he has demonstrated that and will leave posterity to judge him .

“The essence of leadership is to solve problems and not necessarily for people to clap for you “

He further called on them to be careful on what they write and not to demarket the State because Abia is strategic in the survival of the igboman.

“Abia state is strategic in the survival of Ndigbo hence “we should be mindful of we write saying that and whether Abia state will grow or not it is in your hands and if you de-market your state, eventually in your curriculum vitae for your state of origin, you will put Abia . “

“So, I am only urging us that your profession is so important that you are protected by the status in our constitution that tells you how serious the society takes the work you do”

Ikpeazu said that his government gave Abia it’s long term development plan as Aba and Umuahia does not have a master plan.

He added that his achievements in road infrastructural development in Aba was aimed at making businesses thrive and will stand the test of time.

The governor opined that It is not that those who came before him did not do roads in Aba ,they did a few interventions here and there ,even in Umuahia, they did so many interventions but all of these failed .

” So my first question is why did these failed ? to avoid making the same mistake that was why I had to use a special technology taking cognizance the under ground waters .

If I did not ask the right questions,I would not have done the right thing and I would not been able to do the right thing in Osusu road and most of the roads I constructed in Aba.

” I am interested in building roads that can stand the test of time so that the person who will come after me will not go back to those roads because we used cement technology which involves cement, concrete with 9 inch 9 rod and doing it requires some hard work and time but unfortunately our people do not have patience to wait .

Speaking earlier, the Abia state chairman of OMPAN Chief Paddy Anyatonwu said Abia online media practitioners association came to interface with the Governor, added that social media by engineering news play vital role in the promotion and development of every state as well as commending Governor Ikpeazu for being focused despite the series of distractions he has been facing .

He called for the assistance of the governor to have a blogger estate to enable the practitioners have a house, adding that the organization has been trying so hard to pay rent
