NPFL: We Are Tittle Contenders This Season, Inyama Boasts

Abia Warriors Football Club Chairman ,Pastor Emeka Inyama has spoken about the Club’s level of preparedness,players recruitment,the work done at the Umuahia Township Stadium,Abia Warriors home ground,the new sponsor and the side attractions that awaits the teaming fans and supporters of the Club as they sets for the new NPFL.

The Chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club, Pastor Emeka Inyama has said the Club will be the Tittle Contenders for the new Nigerian Premier Football League Season as adequate preparations have been put in place to ensure they win the league.


During his interaction with newsmen, Inyama added that the Club has signed a new Coach Erastus Onuh on a two year contract after Imama Amakapakabo contract expired .


“We have done adequate preparations towards the new football Season as a club.”
“As you’re aware the contract of our former coach expired and we hired coach Erasmus Onuh on a two year contract ,he has since resumed the last four months and we’re confident that he’ll bring the required results we expect for the new Season.”


He said the abridged league season present a big challenge to all the Clubs as they’re conscious of that while he maintained that the Club must do their best to have accomplishments by approaching the Season with every optimism, giving their best in order to win the league.


The Chairman added that the Club signed 15 new players across board while those age whose contract had expired were allowed to go as the Club concentrated in acquiring Young players which is the future of the club to fortify the team and also give room for new experience .

“We believe in young players,that is why we signed 15 new players to fortify the team.”

The Sports administrator commended the players performance during the pre-season tournament as he expressed excitement that the Club is back to their home stadium in Umuahia for the new season after two years, that he believes will enable the fans come out to watch the home matches of Abia Warriors.


He added that a whole lot of innovations took place for the renovation of the Umuahia Township Stadium to ensure a better atmosphere to watch the NPFL matches as a whole lot of work was done in the pitch to enable a good playing surface.


He called for support amongst the teaming supporters of Abia Warriors to come out enmass to support the Club.
“We happy to announce to our teaming supporters and fans that we’re back home,we know Umuahia fans love Abia Warriors and we plead for their usual support and more interest to come out enmass to support the Club.


He informed the Press that the Club has a new sponsor known as UNICEL who will be with them for the new season on a two year contract.


Inyama further said that Abia Warriors new Jerseys will be launched on the day they’ll play their first home match , adding that the Club will do a giveaway lotteries as a way of attracting fans to the Stadium.


He promised to bring in Matchday experience where people will have fun after matches .


According to him,the home matches of Abia Warriors will be played on Sundays at home 3pm in order to allow the away team go on time following the current insecurity in the Country.


The Club also did a dedication of the team to God ahead of the new season because God protected them from previous relegation snare.

Inyama stated that experience and strong will helped the Club to survive as he was the only person who believed the Club will not go on relegation.
“I was the only human being that believe we won’t go on relegation ,he said.
“Though we finished 10th on the log last season but are battle ready to contend for honours this season there shouldn’t be any excuse again for us not to contend for honours.”
Inyama believes that God’s grace has kept the club afloat as the experience and ability not to panic even amidst of difficult situation.
In his words” I’m a strong willed person and I believed in the club every other club had gone on relegation except Abia Warriors,so that is why we’re ready to contend for the Trophy this season.”
