The Governorship Candidate of the All People’s Party, (APP)Mascot Uzoh Kalu has promised to revive all Moribund industries in Abia State if elected governor as these will help in poverty alleviation and in turn reduce unemployment in the State .
Mascot who was speaking during a media chat with Journalists at the party secretariat, added that his decision to join the Abia Guber race was born out of the vacuums experienced in the leadership of Abia State while stressing the need for younger vibratrant individuals with exceptional qualities to be voted in 2023 election in order to drive the State towards development.
“Our goal is to revive all the Moribund industries so as to create employment.”
Having served as the Chief of Staff to Abia State governor,Mascot believes he has the required experience and exposure to turn around the dwindling fortunes of the state, saying that Abia needs a pragmatic leadership with a lot of experience.
He says that his administration will create 40,000 jobs in the State within his Four year tenure in if he becomes the governor of the State .
While maintaining that he stands out the best amongst all the candidates contesting the number one seat in Abia , Mascot vowed to use his contacts to pursue vigorously,those things required to improve the economy as he is abreast of the information that will change the narrative for the betterment of the State.
He frowned basically at the manner graduates have been roaming the streets hopelessly without jobs , stressing that such frustrations has given room to high rate of crime .
Kalu added that he has marshalled out programmes that will provide employment for youths, adding that it is government’s responsibility to create employment as its done in developing countries .
Mascot who recall his roles to the revival of Moribund industries in Abia while serving as the Chief of Staff to the governor,noted that his major aim will be to partner with both local and foreign businessmen for the purposes of having a system that will create employments for the youths and take them of the streets .
He said his government will encourage education by allocating certain amount of money to revitalize the sector, while using his office to attract funds through universal basic education .
He stated that he will reconstruct drainage systems in Aba, pointing out that no matter the level of road construction done in Aba, without good drainage system, Ariaria and other areas will continue to be flooded during rainy season just as he decried the level of road decay around Port Harcourt road Aba, noting that it is appalling that people who import goods abroad see their goods consumed by floods, adding that Government has a responsibility to make the roads motorable for the people.
Mascot Uzor Kalu said if elected in 2023, he will invest heavily in Aba the revenue generating base of the State in the first 90 days of his administration, revealing plans to invest in the Tourism sector, Azumini Blue River among other Tourists sites in the State.
He pledged to make prompt payment of workers’ salaries top priority, assuring that salaries will be paid between 25th and 29th of every month .
On the abandoned Federal Roads , the APP Guber Candidate,noted that such critical infrastructure which benefits Abians who ply through them ought not to be ignored by government because it serves in general Abians and not Federal Government, therefore insists that it should be made motorable atleast with palliatives.
He promised to put a 50 year blueprint for sustainable development if he becomes the governor of Abia as such has been lacking in governance.
He further added that Abia needs him at this time to make all the necessary changes because he understands the State and it’s business atmosphere judging from his international background as an American business trained person.
“Abia needs a governor like me who understands the Abia System, understands the Nigerian business atmosphere , understands the international business atmosphere if you’ve followed my records you’ll know that one on a business level I’m an American trained .”
“I also returned home to understand how businesses are done in Nigeria no other candidates has this combination as I do that’s why I pride myself as the best candidate.”
His Deputy Prof Osondu Akomas, appealed to Abians to vote for all the candidates of the APP as they have young and vibrant Assembly candidates who are poised to change the narratives in the State.
