Seun Kuti announced the upcoming release on his Instagram on June 19, 2024, promising fans a fusion of Afrobeat from his band Egypt 80 and reggae vibes from Damian Marley.

This collaboration is highly anticipated, bringing together the rich musical heritage of Afrobeat and reggae, sure to resonate globally.

The idea of this collaboration gained attention earlier this year when ‘One Love’, a movie celebrating Bob Marley, featured Nigerian stars Wizkid and Bloody Civilian on its soundtrack.

At the premiere, Zuri Marley, granddaughter of Bob Marley, expressed her wish for her grandfather to have worked with Nigerian artists like Fela Kuti and Burna Boy.

Though Fela Kuti and Bob Marley never had the chance to collaborate during their lifetimes, their legacy lives on through Seun Kuti and Damian Marley, who are set to deliver an unforgettable musical experience with ‘Dey’.
